Universal Master Series

The Universal Master Series was short-lived attempt to duplicate the success of the MCA Master Series by the Universal Music Group, who would, a few years later, purchase MCA and essentially dissolve the MCA Master Series artists into different existing labels.

Because of the small size of the catalog and its single-year existence, the entirety of the series can be one page.  It is interesting that in addition to borrowing the "Master Series" title from MCA, Universal also tried to replicate the artwork consistency concept, hiring the same art and design people that did MCA’s albums: Simon Levy and Virginia Team.  As seen, the design results of all the albums feel just like the MCA Master Series, but with a more "adult", "refined", "serious" vibe to them.
